This set of baskets was, like all of my baskets, began at the tree. Here, walnut husks were gathered in the fall to make a potent brown dye, with which the lower weavers were dyed.

The pack basket is made with durability in mind – the solid oak bottom is securely affixed to solid oak runners.

Along with the lower weavers, the straps for this basket were also dyed with the same walnut dye, and are made durably with solid brass hardware and multiple rivets at every juncture.
